#7 How to Start Building
Don't be irrational and just quit your full-time job...
Hi there!
Today, I want to speak a little about how you should start something on the side - something small, but in a SMART way.
I’ve seen people out there throwing huge numbers when there’s no experience behind them and I’ve also seen a huge number of people following and idealizing people who don’t have their follower’s best interest at heart. Don’t be that person who blindly follows everything you hear on the internet. (Don’t even follow ME blindly - do your research and develop your experience).
Whenever you hear something too good to be true, think about it rationally. Think whether it makes sense or not. And do that from a point of view where you haven’t reached desperation. Because when you are desperate for something - whether it’s money or things - your brain will pull you into believing irrational things just because you want it SO bad. That’s where most salesmen attack. A desperate person is the perfect customs for most salesmen.
For example - let’s talk about starting a side “hustle” (side business). If you want to start something, don’t quit your full-time job - in fact, make SURE that you have a full-time job while you start something on the side. Start with something small, something that’s doable, something that also won’t produce a 100% conflict with the job that you have. Use that time to explore what’s possible and what’s not. For example - if you’re in trade compliance, maybe start teaching on the side. If you’re in sales, maybe start a sales training on the side. Your goal is to learn how to succeed in life while still maintain that full-time job that you have. If you want to quit your job - don’t quit your job unless you’re making as much as your job.
Of course, it’ll be slow in the beginning - maybe you won’t get any sales. Maybe you get 1 sale. But you will LEARN from it. You will build experience. And you WILL find customers. I’ve charged people $50 for HOURS of work, but then I’ve also charged the right customer $300 per hour. It depends on what you do, how long you are in the game, and what type of customer you have.
I’m just like you - so if I can do it - so can you. Have some faith in yourself.
Yours truly,
Nadeem
