#2 Building with Support
You can't do everything alone...
Listen, if you were immortal, or if you had unlimited time, then it would be great to do everything at a slow pace or at the pace you want to do and as perfectly as you want to do it.
But, as mere human beings, we have limited time and we get exhausted.
A lot of people who start to work for themselves end up burning out because they fail to pace themselves or fail to realize that they need support.
When you start out a business, or working for yourself, you need to understand that at the beginning of building out your business, it will require a lot of energy, hard work, and time from your end. Usually, you end up working more than 60 hours a week, and you have to learn stuff you’ve never even seen before. This is where you need support.
Obviously, at the beginning, you probably cannot afford to pay someone unless you’ve managed to save a lot of money on the side. That’s when you have to sit down with people around you and ask them for some kind of support. Don’t be ashamed of it, don’t be hesitant - surround yourself with people that might support you, even if a veery tiny bit.
Maybe ask your spouse to do the cooking for few months to they can reap the benefits of your successful business later on. Maybe ask your spouse or family members to watch your kids - or watch them while you work. And if you don’t have any support, you have to slow down yourself and act as your OWN support.
Sleep is important. So is eating. And you cannot forget that.
When I started out my YouTube channel and business, I was working like crazy, essential 24/7. After being close to burnout, I realized something one day - why am I building this? To have a future, right? For my family, right? But if I’m not giving even 1 hour a week to my family or health, and something happens to me, then what’s the point of all this?
That really hit me hard. Just that thought process. So since then, I’ve tried to make sure my weekends are as free as possible, even if that means working a bit harder on the weekdays.
So, I would tell you - start your business - but don’t forget the WHY of it. Work hard, but don’t forget the WHY of it. If you forget the WHY, you’ll get lost and lose yourself very fast.
See you next time!
